Dogpound, and other places!

On the way home after the visit to Slave Lake, as usual I like to try out as many different routes as possible. This time it was through the Dixon Dam area, not too far from home.

At home, I managed to get all the grass cut again despite regular thunderstorms passing through, many with hail.CIMG5971

While sitting around the campfire one night, we noticed that although the mosquitoes did not seem that numerous, or hungry at the time, there was a swarm of them hovering in the warmth from the fire. CIMG5974

Meanwhile, Hailey entertained herself, and got caught up on her cat-naps.

Then, it was off to the Dogpound rodeo!  The 106th annual one!  Of course it was my first one.  While there, I started to wonder if John and Brenda from http://johnbrendasincredibleadventure.blogspot.com/ were also there, as this is their home, northern stomping grounds.  I checked with my phone online to see if I could find a pic of their rig or an e-mail address, but could find neither.  But it turns out that they were sitting just down the fence from us, and likely saw each other, but didn’t know it!  You can read more about the rodeo on their blog.

From there, it was back a bit further north of Edmonton, for some camping and fishing in the Lac La Biche area.

The butterflies were out, the bears were making tracks.

The waters were calm for the most part, and even a few fish were biting.

And in the evening the tame tiger was trying to catch rabbits.  If only that leash was just a little bit longer!

Next post: off to Saskatchewan!

  1. Hey Ivan, Serious question: How much to get a Bear lesson from you? We are just getting started with hiking with our 4yo son and would really like to have an experts advice.

We are in south Calgary, but we would happily drive up to your place one weekend.

    Let me know,

    Neil
