After Jasper, it was time to make a visit on the home front and see how things were doing.
It would be an easy day’s drive from Jasper, but the chance to camp at an isolated spot along Abraham lake broke up the drive nicely.
Besides, it gave me lots of time the next day in Rocky Mountain House to get an oil change for the truck and an overdue haircut for myself.
Back home ‘on the land’ it was a busy time chasing some nice beef out of the yard, and checking out a local coyote while out on a kayaking expedition one day.
I managed to overcome the temptation to climb this tree with a chainsaw to cut off the dead top – and instead did it with a hand saw and a ladder. More firewood for the fire pit!
Hailey was pretty tired from just watching me.
It must be fall; even the grasshoppers are trying to get inside.
I went crazy and (finally) tore off the rotten steps on the front deck, and replaced them with brand new ones. Even had to make my own risers.
I put the old railings back on – that will be a project for another time!
After that successful project, the stairs on the back deck were hardly even a challenge!
Again, Hailey was pretty tuckered out.
We also got a small neighbourly work crew together one day to remove the unsafe dock from our fish pond. With many hands at work, the job was over in no time. The posts will have to wait for later.
Great job on the stairs! Just another day of tinkering on the home front, LOL! As for stretching out another night in the TC any excuse (haircut & oil change) is a good excuse! Love the wildlife...ALL of it!

Hey, those stairs remind of Led Zeppelin's song, 'Stairway To Heaven.' Wondered if maybe you were on a flood plain there with your main floor high in the air. It will soon be time to get that fiver rolling south again eh:))
