I can’t seem to find out how Locomotive rock got it’s name, but I guess it must look like one, from some angle. And I did check it out from a few different angles!
It’s out in the desert south of Ajo, Az, not too far from the Darby Well and Bates Well roads, and visible from a fair distance.
Looking south towards Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and the US/Mexico border.
We drove into the town of Ajo, and had another look into the gaping pit of the now abandoned mine, and visited to local museum as well.
Just out of town, the Border Patrol and Sheriffs were busy combing the roadside with dogs for some fugitives they were bringing out of the bushes. Needless to say, lots of BP activity around here.
Meanwhile, out in the desert, things were peaceful.
And the flowers were blooming!
PS: Sorry about the panorama in the last post. It looks really good on my computer, but blogger shrinks it so much that you can’t really see it .
Looks like a beautiful place to stay. If you're ever looking for campgrounds or things to do in the area, check out RV123.com. We are a website dedicated to the RV camping experience. We not only list campgrounds and points of interest, but we also have RVs for sale, dealerships and community forums on the site. Come visit us, its only a click away!
ReplyDeleteBeing the cat person I am, I love the shots of Hailey. She's a cutie.
ReplyDeleteALL the photos are AWESOME--Im loving the flowers I never seem to be in the desert for the spring bloom--so this is really nice to see.
ReplyDeleteYou are right that blogger does distort the way a photo shows up, but even though they are amazingly beautiful pictures we see throughout all the blogs, the only real way to capture it in all its splendor is with the human eye.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
