The Dam access road!

CIMG5306CIMG5307

Since it appears that we are starting this blog entry with signs, here is another one.

It may look unfriendly to some of us ‘roadsters’, but it is actually just a sign on a McDonald’s drive-through.

This way?  Or that way? (Isn’t that two ways?)

And, Hailey just informed me that she did not get a mention in the last blog post … so,

After all that, where did we go?  It was decided to leave the Oregon coast at Seaside, and cruise down Highway 26 through Portland, before crossing the Columbia river into Washington state.  The Portland area provided the first of many tunnels, and we managed to avoid most of the traffic congestion – until we headed north on I-205 across the river.

I guess someone was looking at the scenery or taking photos of the river as it resulted in a fairly serious rear-end collison just on the Washington side of the line.

Rest assured, that I only take photos and look at the scenery when Hailey is driving.  You can see her reaching for the brake pedal here.

Something tells me that this is not the jeep from the Bayfield Bunch before Al washed it!  Anyone got a spell checker for spelling durt?

Once we were clear of the wreck on the bridge, we followed #14 east along the north bank of the Columbia river.  And there were more tunnels – lots of ‘em!CIMG5312CIMG5314CIMG5316CIMG5318CIMG5337CIMG5321CIMG5325CIMG5326

If you were paying attention to the first dam sign photos, you might now be guessing that we stopped for the night near the Bonneville dam and locks.  You would be correct.

Well, this blog posting is long enough!

  1. Looks like you may be heading towards Spokane? Yes? We'll be heading there next month as we're moving back home.

I'm not so worried about Hailey reaching the brake so much as her holding the clutch. Love the blog...keep it up!

ps. we'll be joining the TC group sometime in the future. Check in to see how things progress.

    Cheers! ~M

  3. Your gray friend there is just so beautiful - I love gray kitties... You are so lucky to have pets that are small and love to sleep on you while your driving. JuneBug has to be in kitty safe box but he does well with the drive.

  4. Good thing you didn't end up with tunnel vision going through all those tunnels. It's a wonder you didn't come across another road sign saying, Dam Tunnel Vision Road!! Always enjoy the Hailey pics. So great to have a best Pal to travel with:))
