Still puttering slowly up the Oregon coast.

Travel is not recommended on Highway 1 from Cochrane to Calgary, say RCMP.

Heavy snow and ice on Highway 1 east and westbound is making roads treacherous and nearly impassable.

Motorists are getting stuck on the stretch of road and highway maintenance companies have been advised.

Travels is also not recommended on Highway 1A between Cochrane and Calgary.

  1. We are sitting in the sunshine here at Cremona, oblivious to the fact that just a few miles south of us winter rages on!! That said although we have sunshine we still have a lot of snow around.

  2. Ivan, though you intimated that your friends didn't seem to want you back, as the above article shows, we are really concerned about you (and Miss H) and only question your sanity about ever coming back to the land of constant winter. Look forward to seeing you on your return. Be sure to stop in (can always use one more to shovel or drive the snowblower!). Duane

  3. Hi, Ivan. Those mountain roads have until June 16th to get clear! That's when we leave Great Falls and head north. We'll be at Bow River Provincial Park for 4 nights--just in case you're interested in dropping by and saying hello. Then we'll move on to Banff, Jasper, and the Alaskan Highway. Enjoy Oregon and points north.

  4. Is it still raining on the Oregon coast? Better rain than snow I suppose. Travel safe.

  5. I am so envious, your last few posts are my favorite areas to travel. Beverly Beach State Park is a really nice park. But so are most of the SP along the Oregon Coast. Your pictures have been great.

  7. The Oregon Coast is a great place to hang out when you're not in a hurry. Looks like there's no great reason to rush back to Alberta right now.
