The July edition–but guess what?

We’re back on the road!!

We’ve been keeping sort of busy with the flying-photo business, but the weather has not been all that cooperative, which makes things wet, muddy, and boring.

We made it in to check out the 100th anniversary version of the Calgary Stampede, then headed out to Banff/Canmore and did some dancing to the Brent Lee Band at Wild Bill’s in Banff with an awesome ex-GF, but then upon returning home the June monsoons seem to have returned.  That makes flying and mowing grass or waterproofing the deck hard to do, so Hailey and I came to a decision – of sorts.

We loaded a bunch of stuff into the ‘summer’ camper, and off we went, footloose and fancy-free.

So far, east seems to be the direction of travel.

There was rain and not much to photograph till we came across the ferry just north of Drumheller.P7164528P7164529P7164530P7164532P7164533P7164534P7164535P7164536

Then, we ran into the Canadian Forces Base at Suffield, with all the signs warning of bombs behind the fences.

A couple of observations: Amazingly, all across southern Alberta and south-western Saskatchewan, the grass is tall and green and the water bodies are all full.  Happy cows and ducks as far as the eye can see!

As well, a quick survey of semi-trailers on the Trans Canada highway shows that just slightly less than 50% of the trucks are pulling dual or even triple trailers.  This compares to my highly accurate and scientific survey done in Texas and New Mexico last year where the percentage was about 4-5%.  Not sure why?

That’s it for now. Tomorrow we start the run across the deep south of Saskatchewan.

  1. I'm wondering what you mean by your "summer camper."

  2. Hope you & Hailey aren't running too fast. Give that 'summer camper' some time to catch up with you.

  3. I was looking forward to your "Dogpound Rodeo" update but I guess I will have to wait till next year.
